Zainub’s History
My father’s name is Mahmud and my mother’s name is Sauda. I am one of twenty siblings of which my mother bore ten. I am the second youngest child. My younger sister, Sumayah, is already married! I wasn’t that fortunate and was very upset the day my sister married before me. Why wasn’t I chosen? Am I not beautiful enough? My sister, Zainub, managed to convince me to join her in Jordan and study. Study? Can you believe that! I wondered why it would be necessary for me to study when I am just going to stay at home and have babies. It turns out that I am pretty good at painting and so decided to pursue it as a career. I fell in love with art, and it helped me fill the sadness of being single. I hope someday soon someone will ask my father for my hand in marriage.
